Hey everyone! I'm a bit worried I might have gotten a CPU that's too powerful for my A520M-HVS motherboard. I'm considering if I need to upgrade the motherboard because I'm concerned about handling the TDP of the 5700X3D. What do you think? Should I just test it out or get a new board right away?

Just plug it in and see how it performs! What CPU are you replacing? You might need a better cooling solution, though.
You should be okay! The Ryzen 7 5700X3D doesn't pull as much power as you might think. Although it has a 105W TDP, it doesn't really boost beyond that, unlike some other CPUs that draw more when they boost. I've got both the 5700X3D and the 5800X in different builds, and I can tell you that the 5800X drains more power. So give it a shot first!
How much did your A520M motherboard cost? You might want to consider an MSI B550 MPG Gaming Plus instead, which has better VRM and features for around $100. If you got a good deal on your current board, try stress testing it while monitoring temperatures. But if you're able to return it, a better motherboard would be a smart move!
It's replacing a Ryzen 5 4500, and I've got a Thermalright Phantom Spirit cooler coming to handle the new CPU. If I try it out, how will I know if it's too much for my motherboard?
