Is my Android 13 device secure enough for USB internet sharing until 2027?

I'm using an Android 13 device for everyday activities, mainly web browsing and sharing my internet connection with my PC via USB tethering. I know Android 13 isn't secure for banking or sensitive financial tasks, but I'm curious if it's safe enough for USB sharing. I plan to switch to a Samsung phone next year for better long-term updates. If my current phone could be vulnerable to remote hacking just by someone knowing my phone number, I'd consider upgrading sooner than 2027.

I practice good digital hygiene by avoiding shady apps, not sharing my number with random people, and regularly updating my Google apps. However, I no longer receive security patches from the manufacturer (last one was in September last year).

As long as you're still getting security patches, the Android version itself isn't a huge issue, especially if you aren't worried about the latest features in newer versions. But since you mentioned you stopped receiving updates, that changes things a bit.

If all your apps are from trusted developers in the Play Store, there's really not much to stress about. Just keep using it until it can’t handle things anymore!

Your device should be fine for casual use and low-risk apps. However, if you're dealing with banking or sensitive information, it can get risky. I’d recommend planning to upgrade within the next year or so.

It should be good, provided you don't make any unsafe decisions. The earlier you upgrade, the less exposed you are to potential risks. Just avoid public Wi-Fi and untrusted networks, and don’t download random stuff or open unknown links. This advice applies no matter how new your device is!
