Is My ChatGPT Account Compromised?

Hey folks! I'm a Plus subscriber to OpenAI and something strange just happened with my ChatGPT account that's got me really worried. Yesterday, I had a chat open and earlier today on my phone, I started a separate conversation for a deep dive on a certain topic and planned to check it later. When I fired up my computer, I hadn't touched ChatGPT yet. I went online to pay my car bill using Chrome, and when I returned to ChatGPT, I noticed a conversation titled 'WebChatGPT' that I didn't create. It seems to have popped up right after I made my car payment! The weirdest part? The chat had shared images and the prompt style wasn't mine at all—it looked related to my car payment. What is going on? Am I dealing with a potential hack, or is ChatGPT somehow tracking my payment activity? Any insights would be super helpful!

It's definitely odd. Even if you had that extension, the fact it generated a prompt could hint at something funky going on. You might want to change your password and check for any other strange activity just to be safe.

Exactly! Better to be cautious with your account security. Make sure two-factor authentication is turned on too.

That sounds super sketchy! Have you checked if you accidentally installed the WebChatGPT browser extension? That extension can pull data from your browsing and use it in ChatGPT. It could explain why that conversation appeared out of nowhere.

Yeah, I think that’s what happened! I just uninstalled that extension. Thanks for your help!

Just throwing this out there, but if you're using a shared computer or public Wi-Fi, that could lead to problems too. Make sure you're logging out of things when you're done, just in case.
