Is My CPU Cooler Working Right? High Temps After Upgrade

Hey everyone! I just upgraded my setup with a new CPU (a 9800x3d), a new motherboard (ASUS ROG B850-E), and RAM since my old AM4 cooler was five years old. I also bought a new CPU cooler, the Arctic Liquid Freezer III 280mm. After running benchmarks with Prime95 and Cinebench R23, my CPU temps are hitting between 85 and 95 degrees. I realize these benchmarks stress the CPU a lot, but those temperatures seem really high to me. My cooler is mounted on top, and I've got three intake fans plus one exhaust fan at the back. Plus, it's been super hot here in Belgium this week, with outdoor temps around 28 to 32 degrees. Here's a pic of my setup: https://imgur.com/a/qMgdDh3

Make sure your pump speed in BIOS isn't set to "quiet" mode – that can really impact how effective your cooling is. Check that the pump is plugged into the pump header, too. It can make all the difference!

Got it, I’ll check that right away. It has to be connected there, right?

Those temps can happen during stress tests like that, especially with high workloads. As long as it doesn’t stay over 90 degrees for long periods, it might be alright, but I wouldn't want it to stay there consistently. Just keep an eye on it!

I thought thermal throttling kicked in over 95 degrees, so being in the high 80s should be fine for a bit.
