Is My CPU Holding Back My Gaming Performance?

Hey everyone! I've got a gaming setup with an RTX 3060, 32GB of RAM, and a Ryzen 5 5600G. I've primarily been playing Rust, and lately, I've been struggling with FPS drops. It used to run smoothly, but since the recent updates, I've been feeling like my CPU isn't cutting it anymore. Am I right to think it's the CPU? If so, what would be a good replacement? If not, what else might be causing these issues?

The 5800X is definitely an improvement, but it's only a step or two above the 5600G. The 5700X3D offers a bit more performance, but again, it's not a massive leap. Just make sure to update your BIOS before switching CPUs, since the 5800X might need newer BIOS versions.

Rust can really bottleneck on the CPU side, especially with a Ryzen 5 5600G, since it's got a smaller cache. If you're sticking with AM4, I'd recommend the Ryzen 7 5700X3D if you can snag it under $200. If that's too pricey, the 5800X for around $150 is a solid option too. If you're gaming at 1080p, an X3D CPU would give you the best boost in Rust.
