I'm using an RM850x (2019) power supply with a 5070ti graphics card. Right now, I've got a pigtail cable providing power to the GPU, combining two connections from one PCIe cable and adding another separate PCIe cable into the three-way connector for the 5070ti. I've read that each 8-pin connector can handle up to 150 watts, which means my setup gives a total of 450 watts. This seems to be fine since the GPU's peak usage is around 346 watts according to techpowerup. However, I keep hearing mixed opinions—should I switch to a third separate cable for safety, or is my current setup good enough?

Using a pigtail like you are isn't an issue at all. There’s no strict need for a separate cable if your current setup is working without any problems.
I decided to grab the extra cable from Corsair specifically designed for the RMX850 and my 5070ti. Planning on upgrading my PSU when I swap cases later this year, though.
Honestly, your current arrangement should be fine. Many folks use similar setups without any issues.
I have a different version of the 5070ti with only two connectors, and my system doesn’t draw over 300 watts. Looks like you’re all set with your setup.
Mine has 3 connectors; it's the PNY 5070ti OC version.

Great, thanks for letting me know! I appreciate it.
