Is My Current Power Supply Good Enough for a New CPU Upgrade?

I'm currently using a Gamdias Kratos 600B power supply for my pre-built PC, which has a Ryzen 5500 and an RTX 4060. I've made some upgrades already, like more RAM and better Wi-Fi. Recently, I performed well on state tests, and my parents offered to buy me some upgrades (within reason). I'm considering a Microcenter bundle that includes an AM5 motherboard, RAM, and a Ryzen 7600X. I want to make sure my current power supply can handle this stronger CPU, or if I should invest in a new one myself.

Definitely check with PCPartPicker for the estimated wattage. Remember, it’s not just about wattage. Your PSU should be reliable to ensure system stability. If it’s low quality, it’s a good idea to replace it before you make any significant upgrades.

It's true that 600W should be enough for your setup, but the low quality of that PSU raises some concerns. It's one of the most critical parts of a build, and you really don't want to cut corners there. Consider saving up for a better power supply soon. If you're looking at the bundle, don’t forget you’ll need another stick of RAM for dual channel; the 7700X bundle is a good option if you want more power.

While your power supply is a basic 600W, it should technically handle the Ryzen 7600X and RTX 4060 just fine. However, keep in mind that the quality of the PSU matters too, and the Gamdias brand isn’t the most reliable. Just make sure you have the right cables: a 24-pin for the motherboard and potentially 1 or 2 8-pin connectors for the CPU.
