Is My Damaged USB-C Charging Cable Safe to Use?

I have an ASUS 100W USB-C laptop charger (model A20-100P1A) and I've noticed that the cable is starting to tear near the connector (I've attached a photo for reference). While the laptop still charges at full speed, I'm concerned about the exposed part since it seems risky and might stop working eventually. I have a few questions:
1. Can I continue using it temporarily if I wrap it in electrical tape?
2. Is it necessary to replace the entire charger, or can I just swap out the cable while keeping the power adapter and brick?
3. Any recommendations for reliable cables, especially ones available in India?

You're actually okay to keep using it for now. The cable shielding and one of the insulated wires is exposed, but as long as the blue sheathing isn't damaged, you're still safe. I'd recommend getting a new cable soon, though, just to be on the safe side.

Just to clarify things a bit, there are usually three internal wires: black, blue, and white. If the metal strands you're seeing are from the black and white wires and the blue wire is intact, you're in the clear for now. Just make sure you monitor it closely and consider getting a replacement soon.
