Hey everyone! So, I've got a flash drive that's about 2 years old, and I've never had any issues until last night. Now, when I plug it in, my file explorer won't automatically open, and in 'This PC', the drive shows up but it's greyed out. When I check the properties, it says there's 0 space used and 0 space available. I tried all the online fixes, but it seems like the drive might be dead. I want to know two things: 1. Do you think a professional data recovery service can definitely recover my files? 2. Are there any affordable recovery options out there, especially for a college student like me? These files are really important to me, and I need to get them back!

Data recovery services are not cheap, especially since you want a reliable one. They’ll never promise you a 100% recovery, but some do offer a free evaluation to let you know if it’s worth pursuing. Just be prepared for the costs if they can recover anything.
There’s no guarantee that a pro recovery service will recover your files. Data recovery can be super pricey, and honestly, success rates can vary a lot. They're specialized, and if they can't recover your data, you might still get charged for the attempt.
It sounds like your drive is toast. Just a heads up, you should really follow best practices for backups next time to prevent losing important files like this. Might want to look up some backup strategies!
