I'm planning to build my first PC by May, and my budget is around $1200 max. I've selected some components that I believe are compatible, but I'm looking for feedback. Here's what I have so far:

- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 4.5 GHz 8-Core Processor
- **CPU Cooler:** Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE 66.17 CFM Cooler
- **Motherboard:** ASRock B650M Pro RS WiFi Micro ATX AM5
- **Storage:** Silicon Power UD90 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME SSD
- **GPU:** MSI VENTUS 2X XS OC GeForce RTX 3050 8GB
- **Case:** Phanteks XT PRO ATX Mid Tower Case
- **Power Supply:** SAMA GT 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular
- **Monitor:** KOORUI 24E3 24" 1920 x 1080 165 Hz

This comes to a total of about $1196.82. Is there anything seriously wrong with this setup? Please be straightforward!

Definitely go for an AMD AM4 setup. As everyone has pointed out, you're spending way too much on the CPU when your GPU budget could be better allocated. If you have a Microcenter nearby, check out their bundles for some sweet deals!

Right off the bat, you're missing RAM! A PC won’t even boot without it.

If you’re aiming for gaming, consider switching to a Ryzen 5000 series CPU with DDR4 RAM instead. It'll likely give you better performance overall. Use any leftover budget to upgrade your GPU too.

Just a heads up, you have a huge bottleneck with that GPU choice. If you're going with the 7700x, I’d suggest at least 32GB of RAM for better performance. Also, keep an eye out for more balanced pricing; DDR4 can save you money right now compared to DDR5.

Honestly, your build has some flaws. Missing RAM is a huge issue, and you're overspending on the CPU while your GPU isn't up to par. Also, I have concerns about the power supply—it’s not the most reliable option out there.

Instead of just hating on the build, check out this alternative that’s around $200 cheaper:

- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 5 5600XT 6-Core
- **Motherboard:** ASRock B550M Pro4
- **RAM:** Silicon Power 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3200
- **Storage:** Kingston NV3 500GB NVMe SSD
- **GPU:** PNY OC GeForce RTX 5060
- **Case:** Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L
- **Power Supply:** Corsair CX750M (750W)

Total is about $947.90. It’s a better investment!

If you're sticking with an AM4 build, I recommend it. Update your CPU choice for a Ryzen 5600 or 5600XT, which are both more affordable options right now. Shop for a used RTX 3070 to give your performance a serious boost without breaking your budget.
