I'm considering buying a PC from a friend, but I'm not very knowledgeable about computers so I could use some advice. Here are the specs he's offering: TUF Z370-PLUS GAMING motherboard, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GPU, Intel Core i5-8400 CPU, Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB, 24GB RAM, and a DELL P2417H monitor. It's been used for around 7 years, and he's asking for 300 euros. Is this a good deal?

If you’re looking to play modern games, you’ll need to spend a bit more or find a better deal. For 300 euros, this is just too old to be useful for anything demanding.

So what should I tell my friend if I decide this isn't worth it?

Given the age of these parts, I think you should definitely look for something else within your 400 euro budget. You can find better specs for that price now.

What would you suggest I look for in that budget?

Yeah, that GPU isn’t good enough for modern gaming. For similar money, you could get a used RX 580, which would be significantly better.

Honestly, that's a pretty weak setup. The GPU is outdated, and I wouldn't recommend paying 300 euros for it. For a better deal, I would say you might want to consider offering around 200 euros tops, and if he doesn't bite, it might be smart to save for something better.

At what price do you think it's worth more seriously?

You could actually get better performance by building a new system or exploring some second-hand parts for a similar price. Honestly, I wouldn't pay more than 150 euros for that setup. It just can't keep up with modern games.
