I've got a gaming PC that's been acting up for a while. It seems like there's a manufacturing flaw or something in the design, because it's destroying itself little by little. I took it to a repair shop, and they found that the cooling system is not only undersized but also too cheap, with a fan that costs just $5! It's overheating so badly that it reaches temperatures over 100°C. Now, the computer is practically dead; it black screens and won't operate at all. I can't return it or get warranty service, and I suspect many components might be burnt out, even if I can't see the damage. Sometimes, I can boot it in safe mode, but the keyboard isn't working to get me into BIOS or anything else, so I'm stuck on a black screen. I feel totally cheated and am wondering if there's any way to recover this computer. The only thing that lights up is a blinking cylinder icon next to the power button, with no other indicators showing what's wrong.

Getting a bigger CPU cooler seems like an obvious solution here! It might help manage those temperatures better, and prevent this from happening again.
Sorry about your bad experience! I had a similar issue with overheating once. As a temporary fix, I removed one side of the case and aimed a box fan directly at the internal components. It was a bit of a hassle, but it worked for me. You could try to get some airflow directed at the hot parts to help manage the heat.
The unit got replaced and fixed, but it still overheats. I think it has permanent micro damage from all that heat, which just compounds the problem.
Hey, sorry to hear about your situation! One thing you could consider is parting out your PC. Test the components one by one if you can manage, then sell them to fund a replacement. It might help you get back on your feet and combined with small claims, it could lighten the load a bit!
I totally get that. It's frustrating when you feel wronged like this. I'm trying to go after the sellers for this mess too, but honestly, I just want my computer working.
That makes sense! But it's frustrating since I barely got a chance to use it before it crapped out on me.
