Hey everyone! Today, my PC suddenly crashed. The fans stopped spinning, but the mainboard LEDs were still lit up, and the power button was glowing. I noticed a burning smell from the GPU, and it seems like the PSU is definitely fried. The smell from the GPU has improved a bit, but I'm worried that other components might be damaged too. A friend is coming over tomorrow with a PSU tester, but I'd like to know: is it possible that the crash could have harmed my other parts?

It's definitely possible that other components could be damaged, especially if the PSU fried. Honestly, I’d recommend just replacing the PSU outright. No point in testing it when you need a new one anyway. Once you have that sorted, you can see if everything else works or if there's damage there too.
If your PSU is relatively new, you might still be able to get it replaced under warranty. It’s worth checking out! It could save you some money.
I think it's around 3.25 years old, so sadly, it might be just out of warranty.

Thanks for the advice! I didn't want to risk turning it on after the crash. Since my friend is helping with the PSU, I might as well test a few things and see how it goes.
