I dug up an old hard drive and initially found it had around 5,000 bad sectors. Unfortunately, that number has skyrocketed to over 11 million! Should I be concerned? What does this mean for the drive's health?

Can you post a screenshot of the CrystalDisk info? That would help in understanding the situation better.
Yeah, one bad sector is already a warning sign! If it's increasing this much, your drive is definitely on its last legs. It's best to back up anything important before it potentially crashes.
Definitely, and bad sectors usually don't come alone. They tend to signal larger issues.
Honestly, I'm surprised your drive is still working with that many bad sectors! Over 11 million translates to about 6 GB of unusable space. A single bad sector can indicate physical damage, which often gets worse. If there's nothing critical on there, you could keep using it until it dies, but I’d get a new drive lined up—something like an SSD would be a good upgrade!

Sure thing! Here’s the screenshot: https://preview.redd.it/zr4hwkeu1aff1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0fd20fcdfd76dd05017643b74d0dc2b46bef9a75
