Is My i7 7700K Going to Bottleneck a 5070 Upgrade?

I'm currently using an i7 7700K with a GeForce RTX 2060 and playing games like Call of Duty, FIFA, and F1. I'm considering upgrading to the MSI Trio OC 5070, especially with GTA 6 on the horizon. I'm playing at 4K right now, and I'm worried about potential bottlenecking from my CPU. Do you think I should just upgrade the GPU, or is it time for a complete rebuild with a new CPU, motherboard, and RAM?

You'll definitely face bottlenecking with your current setup. The i7 7700K performs around the level of a 10th Gen i3, which isn't ideal for the 5070. If you're looking to future-proof your system, consider saving a bit longer for a full rebuild. It's also worth noting that new GPUs are on the horizon, like the 18GB 5070 Super, which might be a better investment.

What CPU would you suggest? I thought the 8 cores of the 7900X would be enough for gaming. Also, good to hear about the potential new GPU coming soon!

Honestly, your i7 7700K is starting to show its age. If you're planning to play GTA 6, it might be best to hold off on the GPU upgrade and save for a full rebuild. That CPU won't give you great performance in newer titles at 4K, and you'll likely experience significant bottlenecking with the 5070.

For 4K gaming, especially with future games like GTA VI, I'd say you're going to want a better CPU. The i7 7700K is already struggling with newer GPUs like the 5070. It might be worth waiting for the next-gen releases or even looking into a complete system overhaul before diving into a GPU upgrade.
