Is My Indie/Retro Gaming PC Build Overkill?

I've been getting help from my local shop to build a small form factor gaming PC that can handle indie and retro games at 1080p/60fps for my TV. My top priority is to keep it quiet, especially when I'm not using it. I've got a recommended parts list, but I'm starting to wonder if it's too much power for my needs since I won't be playing any AAA games or doing anything else demanding. Are there any components I could downgrade to save some cash? Thanks in advance!

Oh man, the SG13 brings back memories! Honestly, I think it’s super overkill for indie games. You might want to look at benchmarks for the specific games you're interested in. I bet you could cut your costs in half! A used GPU and going with AM4 could be a good direction. If you're open to it, a mini PC with a 7840hs APU could also do the trick.

I understand! I just transitioned from a budget mini-PC that worked fine until it broke right after warranty ended. But I'm eyeing something better now.

Most of your build looks solid, but I’d say the motherboard and GPU might be a tier too high for what you're aiming for. Considering what you're playing, you can probably save some money.

I think you could definitely downgrade the GPU for your needs. The 9060 XT is pretty powerful and might give you 130+ FPS at 1080p, which is way more than you need for indie games.

Yeah, that's way overkill. If you're committed to the SG13 case, think about swapping in a SFX PSU and a cooler under 70mm, like the NH-L12 Ghost. If you're focused on aesthetics, the Sugo 14 and 15 cases have more room for larger coolers. You might even consider the 8600G or, if you're willing to splurge, the 8700G, and skipping the video card altogether.
