Hey everyone, I'm really stressed out and could use some advice. Recently, I received a spam email claiming my iPhone was hacked, complete with threats about them accessing my camera and stealing my data unless I paid them in Bitcoin. After realizing that was just a scam, I decided to check my data usage, and it's showing almost 3TB for this month, which just seems impossible since I'm always connected to Wi-Fi while working from home. A huge chunk of that seems to be attributed to 'other devices' on my hotspot, but I haven't noticed anything connected all the time. A couple of weeks ago, my phone overheated for a few days, and the camera app kept opening on its own, even when I wasn't touching it. After restarting my phone multiple times, that issue went away. I've backed everything up, factory reset my phone, and restored it via iCloud, but I just want to be sure my personal information is safe and that I wasn't hacked. Any insights would really help!

It's highly unlikely that your iPhone was hacked if you keep it updated. What iOS version are you running? Also, when you mention the camera opening by itself, can you clarify what you mean? Did it just pop up randomly? That sounds a bit strange.
I have auto updates on, so I'm not worried about that. But yeah, the camera app kept launching itself even when my phone was just sitting on the table a good distance away from me. It was super weird!
