Is my laptop good enough for gaming, or should I invest in a new PC?

I'm a bit out of touch with technology, but I'm finally in a position to buy my first gaming PC! I want to know if I need one to play the games I'm interested in, like Tomb Raider, Hitman, Battlefield, COD, Stray, and Resident Evil, which are mostly single-player and story-driven. My current laptop has an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor, 32GB of RAM, an Intel Arc Graphics GPU with 17.9GB of memory, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. Can it handle those games on low to medium settings, or should I look into getting a new PC?

Definitely test the games before purchasing! It’s hard to say without knowing more about your specific needs, but ensure they run smoothly before you splurge.

I just want to be sure they’ll play nicely before I spend.

Check this out: there’s a YouTube video that tested your exact CPU and GPU. It sounds like it could handle things at about 40 fps in 1080p, which may not be ideal but doable. If you want stable 60 fps in the future, though, you’ll need to upgrade.

Based on your specs, you might be able to play some older titles like Call of Duty: World at War or older Resident Evil games, but it’ll probably be low to medium settings at best. Just be prepared for that.

Most single-player games should be playable. You could install Steam and buy some titles, and that way, they’ll be saved in your account for when you eventually upgrade. GOG is also a great alternative for buying games!
