Is My Laptop’s Battery Degradation Normal After 6 Months?

I have a Lenovo Slim 7 running Windows 11, and I've noticed that my battery capacity has dropped significantly. The original design capacity is 70.00 Wh, but my current max capacity is only 59.72 Wh. I've been using it frequently while plugged in, but this degradation feels excessive. Is this normal for a laptop that's only 6 months old? I currently have around 54 charge cycles on the battery.

I agree, it's not common for a battery to degrade like that so quickly. Just to clarify, you mentioned the battery lasts about 4-5 hours? And it tends to jump around wildly with the estimated time left?

Yeah, that kind of battery degradation isn't normal after just 6 months. I would recommend checking if you can get it replaced under warranty. Sometimes you just get a bad unit.

That definitely sounds unusual for such a new laptop. How long does your battery generally last on a full charge? Do you keep it plugged in most of the time?

For sure, having such inconsistent battery estimates isn't a good sign either. If you're not charging it constantly, I would definitely look into getting it checked out.
