Is My MSI B840-P Pro Wifi Motherboard Good Enough for My 9800X3D?

I recently upgraded to a 9800X3D processor and paired it with an MSI B840-P Pro Wifi motherboard. I've heard some mixed reviews about the B840 chipset and its performance with the CPU. I'm trying to figure out how I can assess whether this motherboard is adequate for my needs. So far, I've done stability tests with OCCT for an hour, and during the CPU and RAM tests, my temperatures never exceeded 85°C. Since I'm not into overclocking, does this suggest that my motherboard is actually performing well? Are there any specific benchmarks or tests I should run to better evaluate its performance?

Absolutely! The VRM on that motherboard is more than capable of handling the 9800X3D. You can run it comfortably without any major concerns. If you want to check the specific VRM specs, sometimes the manufacturer's manual or the product page will list that info. It can be tricky to find, though!

As long as you're not experiencing thermal throttling, your setup should be fine. The 9800X3D isn't known for running hot, and in most gaming scenarios, it won’t push the CPU to its limits. Even older setups with lower-end B350s or B450s handled similar CPUs just fine. So, if everything's stable during your stress tests, you're likely good to go!
