Is My New Build Overkill with the RTX 5080?

Hey folks! I'm planning a complete overhaul of my PC. Right now, I've got an i5 8400 paired with an old GTX 1650, and I'm looking to upgrade to an RTX 5080. An assembler provided me with a configuration, and I want to know if there are any red flags or components that won't keep up with the 5080. I'm aiming for something sleek without RGB, focusing on pure performance at 1440p. I found an RTX 5080 for around $1,100, bringing my total to about $2,500. Appreciate any advice!

For 1440p, the 5070 Ti might be a better fit! I recommend checking out GPU performance reviews for 1440p gaming to see how it holds up. I'm personally waiting for the Super versions of the 50 series cards to release later this year before I decide, but it's worth considering for better value.

Oh, got it! I'm kind of new to all this, so is the 5070 Ti really a better choice than the 5080?

Definitely take a look at gaming benchmarks for CPUs to see how they perform with GPUs. This site has a great summary: Tom's Hardware CPU Hierarchy! It'll help you see if your CPU will bottleneck the RTX 5080.
