Is My New Gigabyte RTX 5060 Ti Gaming OC GPU Defective?

I'm experiencing some serious issues with my new GPU, the Gigabyte RTX 5060 Ti Gaming OC, and I'm really hoping to figure out if it's defective or if there's something else I can try before I return it. I recently upgraded from a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5060 Ti WINDFORCE model that worked flawlessly. Unfortunately, that one had fan issues and I sent it back after two weeks. The new Gaming OC has been giving me a ton of problems, like freezing during games and even when I'm just browsing. I tried various solutions such as underclocking with MSI Afterburner, and switching DirectX versions, but the issues persist. My system specs are an i3-13100F, H610M H V2 DDR4 motherboard, with 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a 650W PSU. Should I consider this card defective or are there any other troubleshooting steps I should take?

Are you using a riser cable? If so, you could want to check for PCIe errors using Nvidia's SMI tool. I went through a tough time troubleshooting too, and it turned out I had a bad riser cable. You might also want to force PCIe Gen 3 in your BIOS settings and see if that resolves the freezing.

Have you tried disabling XMP on your RAM? Sometimes, that can cause instability. Also, make sure your BIOS and chipset drivers are up to date. If all else fails, a clean Windows install might help! Just a heads-up, the ‘OC’ label on these cards isn’t usually a game-changer, it's more of a marketing thing.

I had similar freezing issues with the same GPU paired with an i5-12400F. A BIOS update and chipset update fixed everything for me. Might be worth checking if updates are available for your motherboard.
