I recently purchased a 4TB Samsung 990 Pro m.2 NVMe drive for my setup, but it's not showing up in the BIOS or disk management. I found out that my motherboard, the ASRock B450 Pro4, might not support the NVMe drive. I'm curious if anyone has experience with PCIe to m.2 adapter cards—will one work for my situation, and what kind of performance hit should I expect? Any insights would be super helpful! Thanks!

Using a PCIe to NVMe adapter can definitely work, but your performance might not be as good as using the onboard slots. Have you tried the drive in another PC to see if it’s recognized there? That could help narrow things down.
Your motherboard has two M.2 slots, so I'm surprised it's not working. Have you double-checked the compatibility? It should support the drive properly. Maybe you could try the second M.2 slot? Some people have had success with that approach.
Definitely try a different slot on your motherboard. The top slot might have some issues, but it shouldn't impair performance significantly if you switch to the bottom slot. Good luck!

I’ll give the bottom slot a try! I was worried it might reduce the speed, but it’s worth a shot.
