Is My Old PSU Safe for a New RTX5080?

Hey everyone! I'm planning to upgrade my current GPU from a 2070 Super to an RTX5080, but I'm feeling a bit anxious about my old power supply unit (PSU). It's a 1000W bequiet Powerzone Z1 that I purchased back in 2014. With all the power consumption issues being discussed around new graphics cards, I'm worried if my PSU is up to the task. While I know that 1000W should be sufficient for my setup, I want to make sure I won't end up damaging any of my components due to the PSU's age. Should I consider getting a new PSU to avoid any risks? Thanks for any advice!

Considering your PSU is eleven years old, it might be a good idea to invest in a new one. Over time, even high-quality PSUs can lose efficiency, and it’s better to be safe with such a powerful GPU coming in.

The RTX5080 is designed to be pretty efficient. Even when overclocked, it usually doesn’t go over 270W. What CPU are you using with it? That could affect the overall power setup too.
