Is My PC Build Causing Performance Issues?

Last Christmas, I built myself a new PC, going all out with an RTX 4090 GPU. However, I didn't do enough research on the rest of the components, and I think I ended up skimping on the CPU and motherboard. I got a Gigabyte RTX 4090 GPU, paired with an i7-12700k CPU and an MSI Z790 motherboard, plus I accidentally ordered 128GB of RAM instead of 64GB. While the system runs fine generally, I've been experiencing screen tearing in most games along with some stuttering, lag, and long load times. Games like No Man's Sky and Borderlands 3 aren't running too well, and I find myself having to lower the graphics settings just to maintain a decent frame rate and avoid tearing. Should I be looking to upgrade my hardware?

Honestly, your i7 is still a solid CPU and shouldn't be the reason for performance issues. I'd recommend making sure everything is up to date—check your BIOS, Windows, and drivers. Also, double-check that your RAM is configured correctly and ensure you're using an SSD for your games instead of an HDD.

What do you mean by configuring the RAM correctly? What should I look out for?
