I'm looking to build my first gaming PC after 15 years of buying pre-built systems. My focus is on 1080p gaming with a target refresh rate of 120Hz. I'm wondering if 16GB of RAM will be sufficient for my needs or if I should invest in 32GB instead. Here are the specs I'm considering:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X (6 cores)
- Motherboard: AsRock AM4 B450M-HDV
- GPU: RTX 5060 (8GB)
- RAM: DIMM DDR4 16GB 3200MHz
- SSD: M.2 NVMe 1TB

I built a similar setup recently:
- AMD AM4 Ryzen 5 5600X
- ASROCK B450M HDV-R4.0
- 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
- 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD
- MSI GeForce RTX 5060 8GB
I spent around 1024 euros total. Sticking with 16GB was a good choice for now, and you can always upgrade later if needed! Also, I'm pretty sure you can find a decent 165Hz 1080p monitor for a similar price, and the PC should handle it well!

Yeah, you might find some good 165Hz monitors at a reasonable price! Plus, your specs seem capable enough to handle that refresh rate.

For most games, 16GB of RAM should do just fine! Just be sure to check the RAM usage for any specific games you’re interested in, as some can be a bit more demanding.

You’ll be okay with 16GB, it's pretty standard for gaming right now.
