Is My PC Build Good Enough for 1440p Gaming?

I'm currently putting together a gaming PC with the following components: an ASUS PRIME RTX 5070 12GB GDDR7 OC for the GPU, a Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU, an ASUS PRIME X870-P WIFI motherboard, 32GB of DDR5-6000 RAM from XPG Lancer Blade, a 2TB Kingston NV3 NVMe storage, an 850W Lian Li Edge Gold PSU, a Cougar Duoface Pro RGB case, and a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE cooler. Originally, I aimed for a 360hz+ refresh rate at 1080p, but I've been hearing more about the benefits of 240Hz+ at 1440p instead. I'm unsure if my setup can handle 1440p gaming and whether I'd need to switch to liquid cooling, as I've read that higher resolutions can lead to increased temperatures. Any insights?

Actually, resolution alone doesn’t really raise temps. Your GPU works similarly whether you’re at 4K 120 or 1080p 240. What kind of games do you play? Because many AAA games struggle to hit 240 fps at 1440p, but if you’re into competitive and casual games, you might do just fine!

I mostly stick to competitive games like League of Legends, Valorant, and casual ones like Minecraft and Terraria.

With your Ryzen 7 7800X3D and 32GB RAM, you should definitely be able to game at 1440p without any issues. My own setup has an i7-10700 with 32GB and I’m playing fine at that resolution, so you’re in great shape!

You’ll have no problem with 1440p on your build! I have a similar setup, just slightly different GPU, and I easily hit 120-200 fps in demanding games on ultra settings. You could probably even lower some settings to boost your fps above 280 if you really wanted to.

Just keep an eye on your temps. If you notice them rising significantly while gaming, consider upgrading your monitor and potentially the cooling system. It could help keep everything running smooth!
