Is My PC Cooling Adequate?

I have a gaming setup that seems to be struggling with temperatures, and I'm wondering if I need better cooling solutions. Here's what I'm working with: my case is a Carbide Series SPEC-01, and I'm using a Corsair RM750e PSU. My CPU is an AMD Ryzen 7800X3D cooled by a DeepCool AK620, with a Sapphire Nitro + 7800 XT GPU. I have 32GB of DDR5 RAM and an Asrock B650M-H motherboard. My temperatures are concerning; the GPU hits around 70-80°C under load, which is okay, but my CPU levels off around 75°C and often idles at 50-60°C. I suspect this could be due to poor airflow since I only have one intake and one exhaust fan. I'm considering upgrading to an NZXT H5 Flow case alongside some additional fans. How much of an impact do you think these changes will make?

Your setup runs warm primarily because the AM5 CPUs, like the 7800X3D, tend to heat up more than earlier generations. If you're still hitting 75°C under load, that's not too concerning for modern CPUs, but optimizing your cooling could help. Switching cases to something with better airflow should reduce those temps a bit, likely by 3-5°C at best, so it's worth considering if airflow is an issue.

Right, and don't forget about thermal paste application! If you think you might've overapplied it, cleaning it off and redoing it can also help with temps.

Definitely thinking about a reapplication. I might have put a bit too much on initially.

Your temps aren't awful, especially under load. CPU temps are a bit on the high side, but a lot of it can also depend on your ambient temperature. If you’re in a warmer room, that could be contributing. Have you thought about adjusting the fan curves in your BIOS or using software? This can help keep your CPU a little cooler during intense tasks.

I agree! Fan curves can make a noticeable difference. Just make sure to monitor the temperatures when you first tweak them.

Thanks for the tip! I haven't adjusted the curves yet. I'll look into that!

Honestly, if you’re planning on getting a case with better airflow, just make sure you have at least 2 intake and 2 exhaust fans. That should really help keep things cool. A good cooling solution, like an AIO for the 7800X3D, is often recommended as well for lower temps, especially if you’re looking for better performance in the long run.

Good to know! I’ll definitely take that into consideration when looking at new cases.

Yeah, an AIO might just be what you need to bring those temps down overall!
