I'm looking to dive into 4K gaming and want to know if my current setup can handle it smoothly at 60-120 FPS. Here are my specs: an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 with 12GB, an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core processor clocked at 3.60 GHz, and 32GB of RAM. Any thoughts or advice would be really appreciated! Thanks!

If you’re set on 4K, focusing on older games might be your best bet with the 3060. But keep in mind, you'll need solid cooling and a good power supply if you're aiming for high FPS in intense games.

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely consider upgrading the cooling and PSU for better performance.

For 4K gaming, you'd need something like a 4090 or 5080 to really perform well. Your GPU just doesn't have the VRAM to manage newer games much above 1080p smoothly. It's going to be a tough ride if you're aiming high.

Good to know! Sounds like I have a major upgrade ahead if I want to enjoy those high settings.

Honestly, your current setup might not cut it for serious 4K gaming. Even with DLSS set on ultra performance, you'd struggle to hit those target FPS. It might handle some older titles or indie games, but new AAA games could be a stretch.

True! It really depends on the games too. If he sticks to something less demanding, he might be okay.

Honestly, do you even need 4K 120 FPS? Going for 1440p or sticking with 1080p might be smoother and more enjoyable overall, especially if you're not looking to upgrade components anytime soon.

That's a fair point! Sometimes sticking to 1080p can give you a better overall experience.

I just built a rig with a 7800x3d and a 5070ti, and I can say it's still tough getting smooth gameplay at 4K. With a 5070ti, I'm able to play some games at 4K smoothly, but it's hit or miss without heavy upscaling.

Exactly! A lot of it comes down to how demanding the game is. I can run older games fine, but new releases? Not so much.
