Is My PC Setup Still Good in 2025? What Should I Upgrade First?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to figure out if my current PC setup is still decent for 2025. I've got a Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, an RTX 3070 GPU, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB HDD, and a 500GB M.2 SSD. Do you think this setup can still handle modern games well? And if so, what should I consider upgrading first? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Your parts seem pretty alright, but it really depends on what games you're playing and at what resolution. The balance between your GPU and CPU is decent, so just keep that in mind. If you're happy with your performance, there's no rush to upgrade. But if you're feeling the need for more power, I'd suggest considering a second SSD for storage to avoid using that slower HDD for games. SSDs are way more affordable now, and your board likely has room for another one.

Your setup isn't too bad! For a more affordable improvement, you could look for a new processor on the AM4 platform, like a Ryzen 5 5800X3D. Your graphics card should still be okay, but keep an eye on how it performs in upcoming games.

If your PC can run the games you want at the settings and frame rates you like, then you’re good! But if you're not getting the performance you want, then it might be time to think about upgrading.

If you have the budget, seriously think about swapping your CPU for a Ryzen 7 5700X3D. Just make sure you update your BIOS first! Also, bumping your RAM up to 32GB would give you a nice boost. AMD's AM4 platform is still holding strong in 2025!

Upgrading to the 5700X3D sounds like a solid move. Your GPU should still do well at 1080p. If you're looking at 1440p, though, it may start struggling, depending on game settings. Also, in 2025, having an HDD is pretty outdated. I'd recommend switching to a 2TB NVMe and adding more RAM. If you're using 2x8GB now, grab another 2x8GB, or if you've got one 16GB stick, just match it. The closer your RAM is to match, the better!

Definitely consider getting more RAM and extra storage. It always helps in keeping things smooth and fast!
