Hey everyone! I'm pretty new to building PCs and looking to upgrade my reliable setup from 2020. Here's what I've got right now:
- **CPU**: Ryzen 7 3700X
- **Motherboard**: MSI B550 Tomahawk
- **GPU**: XFX RX 5700 XT
- **PSU**: Antec HCG 750 Gold
- **RAM**: 2x32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4
- **M.2 SSD**: 250GB Samsung 970 Evo Plus
- **SSD**: 1TB Samsung 860
- **Cooling**: Noctua NH-U12S
- **Case**: Cooler Master MasterBox MB511
It's been serving me well for the last five years, but now that I'm in university studying AI and robotics, I need to work on projects involving AI, machine learning, and large language models, plus I want to keep gaming too. So I've researched a bit and come up with a potential upgrade configuration:
- **CPU**: Ryzen 9 9900X (which I already have)
- **Motherboard**: Gigabyte B850 AORUS WiFi 7
- **GPU**: Plan to swap the RX 5700 XT for an XFX RX 7900 XT when I can
- **PSU**: Cooler Master MWE 850W Gold 2x16 (for now)
- **RAM**: Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000 CL30
- **M.2 SSD**: Samsung 990 1TB M.2
I'll be keeping the other two SSDs and my old case. I'd love to get your feedback on this configuration!
Also, I know that for AI and machine learning tasks, an NVIDIA GPU would be ideal due to CUDA support, but they're quite expensive, and I'd prefer to use ROCm instead of breaking the bank.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend going for the RX 7900 XT since the RX 9070 XT is priced similarly but offers about 20% better performance and supports FSR 4. It might be more beneficial in the long run!

That's true, but the RX 7900 XT still has more VRAM which can be a big plus for AI tasks. It all depends on what you prioritize for your projects!
