Hey everyone! I was upgrading my GPU today and ran into a bit of a snag. I can't seem to get my GPU to sit all the way down in the PCIe slot. I even removed the bracket to check for any obstructions, but no luck there. I took a look with a flashlight and noticed there might be some scratches or maybe debris at the bottom right of the slot. I'm wondering if this can be cleaned out or if I'm looking at an RMA situation, especially since the latch seems messed up. My motherboard is a a620 itx, and the GPU is a Power Color 9070 (the two-slot version). Any advice would be super helpful! Thanks!

Have you tried using a soft tool like a toothpick to remove whatever's stuck in there? A vacuum or compressed air might also help clear out any debris. Just be careful not to damage the slot!
Sometimes the simplest fixes are overlooked. If it's a new GPU, double-check that you removed any plastic covers from the HDMI ports! That can create a gap preventing proper fit.
Update: I managed to get the junk out using a file since toothpicks were too weak. Amazingly, both the PCIe slot and GPU are fine now! Big thanks to everyone for the help!
Definitely sounds like there's some debris in the slot. Using compressed air or a toothpick could help. Just keep in mind that if the GPU doesn’t fit, it could be dead too, so testing that is a good idea. If you can clear it out, the slot might still work!
I tried using a toothpick, but it turns out the metal got stripped. It’s strange that my GPU won't sit all the way down though!
Good to hear your GPU is fine from the eGPU test! Just take your time and make sure there’s nothing blocking it.
Thanks for the input! I’ll be cautious moving forward.
I checked, and there were no covers on that side. I think in my rush, I might have messed up the motherboard.
