I recently got a new Corsair RM1000x power supply, and I'm trying to connect it to my Gigabyte B850 Gaming WIFI6 motherboard. The issue I'm facing is that the power supply came with two CPU cables, but when I tried to split them to fit into the motherboard, they don't match up correctly. I can only get them into the two slots I've plugged in now. The motherboard has a 4-pin slot and an 8-pin slot. I'm wondering if it's safe to power on like this or if I need to make adjustments. Here's a [link to how it looks right now](https://imgur.com/a/rN0eJM4).

You definitely need to use both CPU cables that came with your power supply. One should go directly into the 8-pin slot without splitting it, and you can split the other one to fit into the 4-pin slot. That way, you'll have one extra 4-pin connector that won't be used; that's perfectly fine!
Do the shapes of the pin housing need to match the shapes of the plug that came with the PSU? I’m just trying to figure it out.

I tried getting the cables into the 8-pin slot, but whether I split them or not, the shapes just don’t seem to fit. It's like a U shape on one end and then squares on the other. It's confusing! Here are the cables I got [link](https://imgur.com/a/dJIdzPV).
