Hey everyone, I recently bought a Gigabyte RTX 3070, and I've noticed that it's constantly hitting temperatures between 80°C to 88°C. Is this temperature range safe for the GPU? I suspect my case might be contributing to the overheating because the airflow isn't great. I'm also looking for recommendations on a better PC case if needed.

Try opening the side panel of your case and see if the temps drop significantly. Sometimes just removing the side helps with airflow. If it does cool down a lot, that’s a sign you might need a new case or extra fans. Otherwise, consider reapplying thermal paste, especially if the GPU is a few years old already.
Yeah, the glass side! In my experience, it can really help with cooling - I haven't had a side panel on my case for over 20 years!
If your card is used and running hot, it might not be normal. Consider replacing the thermal paste and thermal pads; it can impact your cooling performance a lot! Plus, there are plenty of tutorials online that can guide you through the process effectively.
Not at all! Just take your time and follow some guides. You got this!
Is it hard to replace the thermal paste?
Yeah, an RTX 3070 running at 85°C can start throttling its performance. You could try cranking up your fans using MSI Afterburner to see if that helps cool it down. If it's still running hot, you might want to consider reapplying thermal paste; it can make a big difference. Also, some older driver versions (like the 566 range) are known for causing problems with temperatures, so downgrading could help too.
Throttling is when the GPU slows down to prevent overheating, which can impact performance. It's not ideal!
What do you mean by throttling, though?
Are you referring to the glass side panel?
