Is My Ryzen 9 5900X Causing a Bottleneck with My RTX 5080?

Hey folks, I just picked up an RTX 5080, but I've run into some performance issues. Both my CPU and GPU are sitting around 60% usage across all CPU cores. I'm wondering if this means I'm experiencing a bottleneck. Should I consider upgrading my CPU? Also, if anyone has a similar setup, I'd love to hear if you're having comparable results.

Here's my setup:
- GPU: RTX 5080
- CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X
- RAM: 32 GB DDR4 3200

Thanks for any insights!

Are you experiencing this in all games?

Yes, in every game I've tested, I'm capped at around 120-140 fps.

Seeing your CPU at 60% means it's probably only using 60% of its cores. Since you have 12 cores, and most games can use about 6 to 8, this makes sense. The GPU being at 60% indicates that your CPU isn't pushing enough frames to take full advantage of it, which suggests a CPU bottleneck. Your Ryzen 9 5900X might be holding back that powerful GPU. If you're considering an upgrade, going to an AM5 setup with a 9800x3d would be a big step up. The 7800x3d is also a good option if you're looking for a more affordable choice.

Yeah, I think I'm leaning towards switching to the 9800x3d now.

If your GPU is running at less than about 95% utilization, it suggests that something else in your system might be holding it back, like your CPU. Just remember, CPU utilization can be a tricky metric since not all cores are loaded the same way.

I've made sure to optimize everything I can (BIOS, drivers, etc.). So, even if not all cores max out, does that still mean I have a bottleneck?
