I recently bought a Samsung SSD 990 Pro and installed it without any issues; it recognized the full 2 TB capacity. However, I noticed something strange—next to my D: drive, there are Chinese characters. When I tried to clone my data using Samsung Magician, the software didn't detect the drive, and the performance benchmarks were disappointingly low. I'm concerned this could be a counterfeit SSD. Could it be something else causing these problems? Also, just to clarify, the name in the benchmark was something I changed manually.

From what I can see, that PCB layout looks really different from a legit Samsung SSD. I'd say chances are high that it's not authentic. You should check the pictures carefully for any signs that it’s a clone.
Definitely check that it doesn’t say 'Non-Samsung' on it. Look closely at any images you have—it might help you figure whether you got ripped off or if it's just a bad batch.
It sounds like you might have gotten a counterfeit drive. That name with Chinese characters is definitely suspicious, and poor performance is a major red flag too. I'd recommend returning it ASAP!
If you bought it from MercadoLibre, it sounds iffy. Many sellers there can list counterfeit products. I'd contact the seller for a return or get in touch with customer support for a resolution. Better safe than sorry!

Why do you think it's fake?
