Is My Setup Ready to Switch to Linux or Should I Dual Boot?

I'm a long-time Windows user and have dabbled with various Linux distros like ElementaryOS, Ubuntu, Fedora, and others in the past. Right now, I'm using an old Mac just for specific file types that Windows doesn't support. I'm considering switching to Linux full-time and want to know if my setup can handle it based on how I use my computer. My rig has a 64GB DDR4 RAM, an 8700k CPU running at 5.1GHz, and an RTX 2070 Super. I mainly use Chrome, Discord, and Steam for gaming. I do have a few games that only run on Windows, which means I'll likely need to use Proton or Wine. Also, I rely on Lightroom, so I might need a VM for that. Given these factors, is my hardware and use case ready for a full transition to Linux, or would it be better to keep Windows and dual boot?

Since you already have some Linux experience, a dual boot option could be a smart move. I’d recommend using CachyOS paired with the Limine bootloader. With a BTRFS file system, it'll allow for easy snapshots. If you're comfortable with ElementaryOS, you can always style another distro to look like it, which could be beneficial.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely look into those options, especially the bootloader. I'm leaning toward ElementaryOS because I like the setup. I’ll think it over since I'm eager to dive back into Linux.
