Is my unused Cooler Master AIO CPU cooler still safe to use?

Hey everyone! I picked up a Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240L V2 RGB AIO CPU cooler back in October 2022, but it's been sitting in a closet, unopened, for a while. I'm getting ready for a new build and was hoping to use it to save some cash. My main concerns are if it's still safe to use after all this time. Could the coolant have separated, making it dangerous? How can I check if it's still functional? I'm planning on cleaning off the old thermal paste for sure. Just curious about the longevity of unused AIOs!

First thing you should do is check for any obvious damage on the cooler. Then you might want to test it outside of your case to see if it’s still working. It’s pretty straightforward!

What kind of obvious damage should I look for? I mean, it’s been in a box, so I can’t see any scratches or issues. I’m kinda new to all this, so I’m not sure what to look for!
