I'm planning to build a new gaming PC and I'm looking at pairing an RTX 5070 with a Ryzen 7 5800X. I currently have 32 GB of DDR4 RAM (3200 MHz), so sticking with the AM4 platform would save me some cash. My main focus is gaming, especially CS2 and other multiplayer titles rather than the latest big AAA games. I'm a bit concerned since the Ryzen 7 5800X is a bit older, and I wonder if it might fall short in CPU-heavy situations with the RTX 5070. On the flip side, switching to AM5 would require a new motherboard and DDR5 memory, which isn't in my budget right now. Thanks for the input!

If you don't already have an AM4 motherboard, consider going for a 14600K and a DDR4 motherboard instead. It'll provide a significant performance boost over the AM4 setup.
Honestly, the Ryzen 7 5800X is still a solid choice. A 5700X might give you a better price-to-performance ratio in some cases, but you shouldn't face any major bottlenecks with the 5070. Just be mindful of your VRAM needs when gaming at higher resolutions.
What's your target FPS for CS2? If you're currently at around 100 FPS, upgrading should definitely boost your performance without too much hassle.
