I've been using Linux Mint for a few weeks and I'm getting the hang of it. Originally, I chose Mint because I heard it was similar to Windows and beginner-friendly. Now, I've upgraded my CPU and GPU from a 12700k and 3060ti to a Ryzen 9900x and 9070xt. While trying to transition to the AMD drivers for apps like DaVinci Resolve, I came across Pop OS and it seems to be better optimized for newer hardware. Is that true? Also, since Mint is based on an older version of Linux and Pop is built on a newer one, what are the pros and cons of using a more recent distro? Given my hardware, should I consider switching to Pop OS or another distribution? My main focus is gaming and video recording/editing.

Both Pop OS and Linux Mint are based on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, so switching to Pop may not offer much advantage in terms of stability. You might gain a new desktop environment with Cosmic, but that might still have bugs. If your hardware is well-supported by Mint, you probably won't notice a big difference by switching.

Thanks for the heads-up! I want to avoid having to deal with stability issues while trying to boost performance.
