Is RALS a feasible final year project?

I've been tasked with a project that involves simulating the software development life cycle for a system of my choice. Initially, I thought about creating a simple computer-based training program, but I decided to work on something that really excites me. I'm considering a project called RALS, which is aimed at helping artists manage lighting in 2D animation through a variety of features like creating lighting setups, animating them, and importing/exporting different file formats. My friend suggested I make it my final year project, but I'm doubtful about its feasibility given that it feels quite ambitious. Can anyone provide insight on whether it's realistic to develop RALS in just over two years by one person?

From what you've described, RALS has a lot of features that would typically require a team to develop. If you want to include all those options like automatic depth map generation and extensive file format support, you're probably looking at a pretty steep learning curve. Maybe you can simplify the project to focus on a few key features instead?

Honestly, it sounds super ambitious for a single person. If you have two years, maybe you could get a basic version done, but I'd say you might only scratch the surface of what you want to achieve. It really depends on how much time you can dedicate and your skill level with software development.

What else are you going to do during those two years?
