I'm getting back into gaming and looking to build a PC on a tight budget. I'm considering pairing an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X with an RX 580 8GB, which I found for $60 on Facebook Marketplace. I'm hoping to use this setup for gaming, particularly aiming to play Cyberpunk at 1080p with 120fps on high settings. Along with gaming, I want to do some content creation and plan on dual-booting with Linux. Is this a decent combination to start with, or should I look for a different GPU?

To be frank, you're unlikely to hit that 120 FPS mark in Cyberpunk 2077 with an RX 580, even at low settings. Expect more like 30-50 FPS at 1080p. The RX 580 is still a great card for the price, especially at $60, but for a better gaming experience, consider saving up for a more powerful GPU in the future, like an NVIDIA RTX 4060 or AMD RX 7600 XT. Your plan is solid, just keep expectations realistic!
Generally, I recommend spending half your budget on the graphics card. The RX 580 can handle around 30 FPS on 1080p high settings in Cyberpunk. However, if you're not satisfied with that, consider investing in a more powerful card when you can. I also suggest checking the stability of your motherboard and parts since AM5 is a bit pricey for budget builds.
I heard Gigabyte motherboards had issues. Have they resolved those problems?
If you're really on a tight budget, you might want to spend a little more for a GTX 1660 Ti or Super. They won't get you to 120 FPS either, but they're stronger than the 580. If you save up a bit more, a 2070 Super or 6600 XT would get you better performance, closer to 80 FPS on medium settings.

Thanks for the heads-up! I’ll definitely check out the RX 7600 XT when I'm ready to upgrade.
