Our leadership team is considering whether to switch to a single-device workflow, specifically using the Galaxy Fold 7 with Samsung DeX. We're planning a trial in our enterprise environment and I'm eager to hear from anyone who's used DeX at scale. Currently, each desk has a conference monitor connected via USB-C, daisy-chained to a second monitor using DisplayLink. Users often rely on webcams and conference monitors for Teams calls, and our software is mostly online SaaS apps and Microsoft 365.
Before we fully commit, we have some concerns: DisplayLink isn't officially supported, which might require us to replace dual-monitor setups with one large curved monitor. We've also heard that webcams on conference monitors don't work well in DeX mode. We're worried this could push users towards VDI (Cloud PCs), causing frustration and increasing costs.
So, I'm reaching out to the community with a few questions: Have you deployed DeX in your enterprise? How did users feel about it? What's the best hardware setup you've found (single vs dual monitors, docks, webcams)? What were your main limitations or deal-breakers? Any tips for smoother adoption? We're excited about the single-device approach, but I'm concerned DeX may not be ready for enterprise environments yet. I appreciate any insights before we invest significantly!

I use DeX with docks for emergencies—like fixing my homelab while traveling. It's decent for quick fixes but feels like a watered-down Chromebook experience. It's workable, but if I had to do substantial work, I'd need other tools. Just being able to carry one device is nice, but support for apps can be a big issue.
Using a pricey phone for a limited set of tools can be risky. If it breaks, you're out of work. Plus, using your phone for calls while working is a hassle. A regular desktop and basic phone combo might offer more value, and likely end up being cheaper in the long run. DeX just feels gimmicky, to be honest.
This whole situation is the funniest thing I’ve heard in a while. Thanks for the chuckle!
I’m looking at a similar setup and have come across some concerns with docks. DisplayLink docks don't really work with DeX, but regular USB-C docks can, but they don’t support dual displays. Honestly, moving towards a single larger monitor seems like the way to go if you want to make this work.
Honestly, best of luck! But I'm anticipating a post filled with regrets in about six months. Just a heads up!
You hit the nail on the head. It sounds appealing, but if you really need Windows for many tasks, it won't hold up. I used to work in a Google-centric company that tried a system like this with Citrix, and let me tell you, it was a nightmare.
