I'm considering switching my laptop to Linux. It doesn't have any important data on it since it's mainly for my college work in computing. I'm curious if it's worth the switch, especially since I'll be coding (mostly in Python and some other languages after exams) and handling documents and presentations. I also use Teams for college work, but I can access that on the web. If switching is a good idea, which Linux distribution should I choose?

Definitely give Linux a shot if you can. It’s totally fine to try it out on a virtual machine or give it a week before fully switching. And don't forget to backup any important files before making the change!
I've been using Fedora as my main system, and it's pretty smooth. It's user-friendly and gives you a taste of the Red Hat environment. You can easily code and create presentations on it. If you enjoy customizing your OS, you might later want to try Arch Linux for a more hands-on experience. For now, I recommend sticking with Fedora, or if you need something lighter, Linux Mint could be a great choice!
If you're up for it, just dive in! You might want to start with Ubuntu like I did back in 2018. The desktop version felt a bit bulky, so I ended up installing a lighter version using the Server ISO. Right now, I'm really liking the latest LTS release. Remember, you can always go back to Windows if you need to!
