Is the 3070 Ti Worth the Extra Cost Compared to the 3070?

I'm planning to build a secondary PC and I've narrowed it down to two graphics card options: a used RTX 3070 for $200 or a 3070 Ti for $320. Both cards have been in use for around three years and are intended for gaming. It's also a two-hour drive to get either one. Do you think the performance boost of the 3070 Ti justifies the additional $120?

For that price difference, I'd suggest skipping the drive and looking at alternatives like the RTX 5060 for potentially better value without the hassle.

The reality is, there’s really only about a 10% performance gap between them. Given the 60% price increase for the Ti, it just doesn’t add up. The 3070 is a solid choice for cost vs performance.

If you check the performance charts, like the one from TechPowerUp, the 3070 averages around 64 fps at 1440p, while the 3070 Ti is about 7% better at 68 fps. When you break down the cost per frame, the 3070 is a much better bargain. It just doesn't make sense to pay so much more for such a small improvement.

I personally had both cards, and honestly, the performance difference was barely noticeable. I found the 3070 way more manageable with less heat and noise, which made for a better overall experience.

In my opinion, the 3070 Ti isn't worth the extra $120. The performance difference is minimal, and you can achieve pretty much the same experience with the 3070 for way less money.
