Is the 3080 Ti a Good Choice for 1440p Gaming in 2025?

I'm looking for some advice from anyone who's gaming with a 3080 Ti, particularly those using DDR5 and Intel's 12th to 14th gen CPUs. I've seen a lot of inconsistent information on YouTube because people often test with different setups, usually on older games like GTA5 and DayZ, which I know the 3080 Ti can handle well. I was recently gifted a great ASUS monitor, but my 4060 struggles to hit even 30fps in the latest titles at 1440p. Ideally, I'd like to hit around 80fps, although I know some upscaling may be necessary. My main concern is the card's ray tracing performance.

My current setup includes an MSI B760 Gaming Plus Wifi motherboard, an i5-12600KF CPU, and 32GB of DDR5 RAM running at 6000MT/s. Here are some of the games I'm interested in playing: Oblivion Remastered, The Last of Us 1+2, God of War: Ragnarok, Expedition 33, Final Fantasy XIV, Black Myth: Wukong, and Avowed.

The 3080 Ti is roughly twice as fast in non-VRAM constrained scenarios compared to a 4060. Just make sure your CPU is up to par, though! Upgrading to a 13th/14th gen might help if you have the budget for it. It really depends on prices you're seeing, too.

I plan to upgrade eventually but the 12600K is still doing well for me. I’m thinking of waiting for the 14700 to drop in price.

Yeah, I didn't realize the 4060 only uses 8 lanes. That definitely limits performance at 1440p. Might be time to rethink your setup!

I think gaming on a 3080 Ti at 1440p in 2025 sounds like a solid plan! It's comparable to a less power-efficient RTX 4070, so you should be able to push those graphics pretty well.

I had a standard 3080 and it handled 1440p like a champ. The Ti version should definitely perform even better!
