Is the 5 7600X Suitable for Physics Simulations and Programming?

I'm building my own PC and I'm considering the 5 7600X and the 7 7700X processors. I want to use it for heavy physics simulations, which involve thousands of moving objects, collisions, and forces calculated per frame. I'm looking for something powerful, but I'm not sure if either of these will be an overkill for what I need. Can anyone provide insights on which CPU would be better for this purpose?

For physics simulations, more cores are generally better. The 7700X would be your best bet since it excels in multithreading. If this is for a college project, it’s worth considering higher core count CPUs like the 9950X if your budget allows. But honestly, without knowing more specific details about your use case, it's hard to give a definitive recommendation. It feels like you want us to guess your needs!

I actually need it for professional projects, so thanks for the advice!

Could you elaborate on what you mean by 'heavy physics'? Like, how many teraflops would you require for your simulations? 😉
