Is the 5800X3D Still a Good Buy for €250?

I recently upgraded to a 9070XT, but I'm feeling that my 5600G is holding it back with some micro stutters. With the 5700X3D and 5800X3D being discontinued, I've seen prices skyrocket or they're just hard to find. I came across a second-hand 5800X3D for €250—is it worth buying at that price?

It’s a bit of a mixed bag. Upgrading from a 5600G, you might want to make the jump to the AM5 platform if your budget allows. But if you're tight on cash right now, the 5800X3D could be a decent stopgap. The 3D cache is great for gaming, especially if you're into FPS games, but I'd recommend aiming for AM5 in the long run.

Nope, not worth it. You should consider selling your whole AM4 setup and investing in the AM5 platform instead. I pulled the trigger on a 5700X3D when it was $120, which was great value. Now, for the same cost, you could set yourself up for a solid modern platform and future-proof your system.

The 5600G is pretty limiting. Upgrading to something like a 5600 or 5700X would already help with those micro stutters since they have more cache. And if you're thinking long-term, switching to the AM5 platform with DDR5 might be the way to go. Either way, selling your current setup could provide you the funds to make a worthwhile upgrade.

For €250, that's steep for the 5800X3D. You might find better value in going AM5 altogether, especially since that platform is where future upgrades will be. Plus, with newer generations on the horizon, you could end up spending about the same for a preferable upgrade path. Check what you can sell your current components for; that could impact your decision.

Honestly, I'd skip on the 5800X3D. Instead, consider selling your 5600G along with your motherboard and RAM. With that cash, you could upgrade to the AM5 platform with something like a 7600X and DDR5 memory, which will likely give you better performance at a comparable price. The 5800X3D isn't a bad chip, but the value just isn’t there for most users right now. A move to AM5 seems like a smarter choice, especially since you might make a good amount selling off your old parts.

Do you think B850 motherboards are worth looking into? The price difference compared to B650 isn't huge.

Thanks! I'm in a similar situation and will follow your advice for an AM5 upgrade. Should I choose the 7600 or the 7600X? The prices seem really close.
