I'm considering buying a 7800 XT for $540, but I'm also thinking about waiting for the 9070 to be released. Right now, the 9070 is priced around $800, while the 7800 XT sits at around $850-$900. I would consider the 5070 as well, but that one is still priced around $740-$780. I doubt they'll hit MSRP before October, but I really need a GPU as I'm currently using a borrowed 1050 Ti. Is the 7800 XT a good purchase at this price?

If you already have a functioning GPU, then I'd recommend waiting. But if you need something now, even $540 feels high considering you can find 7900 XTs for around $600. People paying high prices tend to either not care about the cost or are in a pinch due to their current card breaking.
I love my 7800 XT! Haven't encountered any driver issues and it's definitely a solid value buy. Just make sure you weigh your options before deciding.
The 7800 XT is definitely a major upgrade from a 1050 Ti. If you're willing to keep an eye out, you might score a 9070 for under $700 in the next couple months. Check around often, as they pop up occasionally on sites like Newegg.
I've seen 5070s available for $600-650. If you don't want to wait for the 9070, that might be your best bet. Honestly, I don't think the 7800 XT is worth $540 right now.
I got my 7800 XT for $460 right at New Year's, so I wouldn't say $540 is worth it. The performance is great, but for that price, look for better deals.
Yeah, keep an eye on Microsoft Center too. They had the 9070 for about $624 recently. It's a decent deal compared to Amazon scalpers.
