I'm considering investing in a graphics card to last me a while, and I've come across a 7900 XT for 500 euros. Is this GPU suitable for 1080p gaming over the next 4-5 years? I have a 750W power supply, so that shouldn't be an issue. Alternatively, there's the 4070 Super or even the upcoming 5070, which cost around 100 euros more. Are those worth the extra spending?

Honestly, getting a 7900 XT for 1080p gaming might be overkill. You’re looking at incredible raw performance, which is great, but if you're not into ray tracing, it should serve you well. Just keep in mind that newer options might offer better ray tracing and upscaling features if that’s important to you.
I got my 7900 XT for 340 euros, so for 500, I’d think twice, especially if you want a card to last. At that price range, I’d recommend checking out the 4070 Super or even the 5070 if it’s available for close to the same price. You'll likely get better features for the future with those.
Definitely overkill for 1080p. If you're not into ray tracing and want something that's more budget-friendly, the 9060 XT is going to cost a lot less and handle everything you want without a hassle. Just weigh the performance needs with the price.
I’d steer you away from RDNA 3 at the moment. It's not great with ray tracing compared to its competitors, plus the upscaling options like FSR 3.0 aren’t impressive. If you mainly play at 1080p and don’t care much about the latest standards, though, it’s still a solid card for the price.
If you're looking for future-proofing at 1080p, the 9060 XT might be a better bet. They're cheaper and still perform amazingly. I run most titles at high settings and hit over 150 fps without issues! But if you're set on the 7900 XT, just know it might be a bit much for 1080p.
